Children, Teens, and Families:

When counseling children and teens I work closely with parents and the family as a whole. It is important to work collaboratively for the best outcomes and impact. With this approach I will ask to meet with parents for 4 to 6 times before working with the child or teenager and then often include the parent and family during the sessions. This allows for a shared language, techniques, and implementation of therapy strategies both at home and in the office.  I  offer a free 30 minute consultation in order to discuss what you are looking for and to see if my approach and style is a good match.

Young Adult/Adult Individuals:

When working together we will collaborate  to create goals for your therapy; what you are striving for and want to work on.  Every 4-6 weeks we will revisit your goals, assessing what you may want to change, add, or integrate.  The approaches and techniques we use will be guided by what you feel comfortable with, you are in control of your healing and growth.  I offer a free 30 minute consultation in order to discuss what you are looking for and to see if my approach and style is a good match.

Walk and Talks:

Nature is a wonderful tool for healing and emotional regulation. I offer 50 minute walk and talk sessions on Saturday mornings at Lady Bird Lake.

Parent Consultations, Workshops, and Support Groups:

Parent education is a huge passion for me; parenting is just plain hard! Children unfortunately do not come with manuals once they enter our lives, and though each one is unique and precious, this can make it even more challenging to know what to do.

I offer one time and ongoing parent consultations for concerns on specific topics i.e. school challenges, new addition to the family, how to address loss of a beloved pet, new marriage and blended families and many more. If it is a concern that comes up, we can talk together about ways to navigate those tricky waters.

I also conduct parent workshops on Social and Emotional Intelligence and how to incorporate emotional regulation parenting into your tool bag. Some workshops conducted have been on: How to approach discipline through the lens of empathy, Regulating your own emotions with challenging behavior, Supporting healthy risk taking in learning, What is the difference between bullying and typical peer conflict, How to help your child with responsibility, time management, and self-motivation, Growth mindset, and How to really let go (it is so hard!) to let them soar. Check the events calendar for upcoming workshops.

Parents can be  each other's best support.  Small monthly support groups will begin in late fall. Each group will meet monthly with specific topics for discussion and guidance. Check the events calendar for upcoming group meetings.
