"Healing doesn't mean the wound never existed. It means it no longer controls our lives"

Whether you are a child, teen or adult I believe we all have the amazing ability to be the authors of our own story. Together, we can explore the stories of the past and how they  impacted the chapters of the present, and through that exploration we can be empowered to write the next chapters with self- compassion, love, and courage. Your beginning story is only part of your journey, the destination you want is absolutely possible!

Who I am..

I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in counseling and 22 years working with children, teens and families as an educator. The time I spent teaching showed me the power of connection, empathy, and the value of a strong self-worth. Through this understanding a passion for the journey of healing took root. I obtained my Masters in Counseling degree from St. Edward’s University and continued my training in TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) EMDR, Nurtured Heart, and Social Emotional Intelligence Coaching.

My approach as a therapist is through a  partnership of compassionate collaboration with my clients. The work of healing and growth is difficult. My role is to help you through this process by creating a working space of felt safety, trust, and connection where support and sometimes gentle challenging can be an authentic path to writing the story you want.

Who I work with...

I work with children, teens and families on a variety of needs: trauma, attachment, adoption, chronic illness (self or loved one), grief and loss, emotional regulation, self-esteem, self-compassion, perfectionism, fear of failure, peer conflict and relationships, body image, school challenges, and life transitions.

I also work with adult individuals seeking support, growth, and healing with: grief and loss, trauma both past and present, childhood abuse, chronic illness (self and/or loved one), anxiety/stress, relationship challenges, self-esteem/worth, and adult children of parents with addiction.

Through my own personal experiences, I understand the many  challenges that come with living with chronic illness and the difficulty  for those that we care for, and who care for us, including the medical community, to  grasp the ever changing  nuances and obstacles . I am committed to helping those seeking support, acceptance, and their own unique trail to flourishing in this one beautiful life we are given.  If you are looking for help in this area, we can work individually as well as in a support group setting. Please check the events page from time to time to see when new groups are forming.

Our work together...

The methods and tools I use as a therapist vary from client to client. They are  grounded in attachment theory, emotional intelligence understanding, mindfulness practices, CBT,  evidence based experiential techniques, and nature work.
